Tampa Station to Become Bucs' TV Partner

Tampa, Fla. – WFLA-TV/News Channel 8 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced yesterday that they have signed a multi-year deal making the Media General station the "Official Television Station of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers." WFLA becomes the first television station in the Tampa Bay area to become a "Pewter Partner" with the NFL football team.

Beginning with the 2003 season, WFLA will be the official home of Buccaneer pre-season games, pre-game shows, and other special Buccaneer programming. "We're extremely pleased to be the official television station of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers," said WFLA President & General Manager Eric Land. "Along with our partners at The Tampa Tribune and TBO.com, we intend to provide our viewers with unprecedented coverage of the bay area's preeminent sports franchise," Land added.

The partnership also entitles WFLA to stadium signage and use of Buccaneer logos in advertising and promotions. WFLA will be integrated into BucVision programming at Raymond James Stadium.

"We are very excited to announce this new partnership with WFLA-TV/News Channel 8," said Buccaneers Executive Vice President Bryan Glazer. "WFLA is the market leader and they have a tremendous influence in our community. We are looking forward to working closely with them."
